The story of the king and the ant | Tawakul

I have a small story about an ant, do comment with whatever you feel its about!

Once upon a time there was an ant, in a big kingdom.

The king of the kingdom went to the ant and asked the ant, "How many grains of rice do you need in a year? From now on I will give you food to eat, no need for you to search for rice grains".

The ant replied, "Thats very kind of you. I need only two grains of rice in a year, sir."

And so the king gave the ant two grains and told it to come next year.

A year passed and the ant came again, bringing with it one grain of rice.

The king asked, "Oh ant, why do you still have the other grain? Did you think I will not have rice grains to give you the next time you came?"

The wise ant replied, "Sir, when I was getting rice grains from Allah, I never saved any grains, because I have full trust in Him, but I cant trust a human. I thought that next year you would have forgotten about it and you would refuse to give me the grains."

Moral: Trust the Almighty and no one else.

 Surah At-Taubah, ayat 51:
"Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector). And in Allah let the believers put their trust."

Why isnt there any compensation for IIUI victims

Syed Muzammil Hussain

The International Islamic University Islamabad was a target of two cruel bomb blasts on Oct.20,2009 killing
8 and injuring  about 30 students and staff members. The top brass of government expressed their grief over the tragic incident. It was an encouragement for  bereaved families but there was no financial support for them at all.The university  is bearing all expenses of  treatment of  victims. It is very strange that government has not announced any compensation for families of martyrs  and injured  students and employees. One example of  an IIUI sweeper  Pervez Masih may be quoted here who laid his own life and saved  hundreds of innocent female students as he  successfully stopped  the suicide bomber to enter the main hall of the cafeteria .His family is living in very miserable condition because of his death. Although the University has offered his widow an employment but it is not enough. The government should  compensate  his family as well as  other  bereaved families. This is being done all over the country  and the government should not  deprive IIUI victims of this support.Hopefully the authorities would take an immediate action in this regard. Our country is known world  over for philanthropy  as it was in 2005 Earthquake when a think tank of USA openly admitted that Pakistanis were   far ahead of them in helping needy persons although USA always claims to be pioneer in this field. Now the community should also come forward  to help IIUI victims.Media channels (Print and Electronic) should also play their role.

Reply to Every One Draw Muhammad (saw) Day on Facebook | 20th May 2010

People's right to express themselves is what they call it. But as far as I can see it, it is not stopping at all. Every idiot who has access to the internet is submitting drawings and pictures, thus expressing themselves.

As my reply to all of these "budding artists" of the world, who think that they know that they have secured their place in heaven, but who are actually the dwellers of hell- I present some points, taken from their own minds, from their own "Freedom of Thought/Speech Concepts"

Let Me Start With Some Definitions:

When you attack black people.

When you attack jews.

When you attack women.

When you attack homosexuality.

When you attack your country.

When you attack a religious sect.

Freedom of Speech.
When they attack ISLAM, when they attack our Prophet.

One guys says he doesnt mean to insult the Muslims, he just wants freedom of speech!  Well, his freedom ends where another person's nose starts. Usually it is not civilized action to just start chaos in the world, just like that. Perhaps thats what their culture, their religion teaches. To start hatred in humanity. Islam on the other hand means peace. And its peace with a limit. If you start troubling our community, we have a right to fight back. We cant let you troublemakers go into our homes, break into our tvs, say things about our stuff, then say its just freedom of speech..

There is something called manners too, and if you want freedom of speech then practice it with your own people, your own family, call your own mom names, tell your own dad what your think, dont go practicing your right with anyone you find on the road, particularly a Muslim.

We should take a minute here and see why everyone is targetting Muslims. There should be a reason right? Well, there is! It is because Islam is the truth, and usually truth is not supported by idiots. If you know, Gallileo was hanged when he said that the earth moves around the sun. People wouldnt just listen, they didnt know anything about astronomy but still had a belief that they were right! Whats the difference between those scoundrels, and these gentlemen who believe in stupid and false free speech.

Now the reason why we dont like it, we dont like people who do this, and why angry Muslims would send threatning messages and all that stuff..

The Noble Qur'an - Al-A'raf 7:148
And the people of Moses made in his absence, out of their ornaments, the image of a calf (for worship).  It had a sound (as if it was mooing).  Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to the way?  They took it for worship and they were Zalimun (wrong-doers).

The Noble Qur'an - Al-Anbiyâ 21:51-54
51. And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrâhim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allâh, etc.).
52. When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?"
53. They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them."
54. He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error."

Hadith - Bukhari 3:428, Narrated Said bin Abu Al-Hasan
While I was with Ibn 'Abbas a man came and said, "O father of 'Abbas! My sustenance is from my manual profession and I make these pictures." Ibn 'Abbas said, "I will tell you only what I heard from Allah's Apostle . I heard him saying, 'Whoever makes a picture will be punished by Allah till he puts life in it, and he will never be able to put life in it.' " Hearing this, that man heaved a sigh and his face turned pale. Ibn 'Abbas said to him, "What a pity! If you insist on making pictures I advise you to make pictures of trees and any other unanimated objects."

Hadith -Bukhari 4:47, Narrated 'Aisha
I stuffed for the Prophet a pillow decorated with pictures (of animals) which looked like a Namruqa (i.e. a small cushion). He came and stood among the people with excitement apparent on his face. I said, "O Allah's Apostle! What is wrong?" He said, "What is this pillow?" I said, "I have prepared this pillow for you, so that you may recline on it." He said, "Don't you know that angels do not enter a house wherein there are pictures; and whoever makes a picture will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked to give life to (what he has created)?"

Hadith - Bukhari 4:448, Narrated Abu Talha
I heard Allah's Apostle saying; "Angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture of a living creature (a human being or an animal)."

Hadith -Bukhari 5:338, Narrated Ibn Abbas
Abu Talha, a companion of Allah's Apostle and one of those who fought at Badr together with Allah's Apostle told me that Allah's Apostle said. "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture." He meant the images of creatures that have souls.

Hadith - Muslim, Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib
AbulHayyaj al-Asadi told that Ali ibn AbuTalib said to him: Should I not send you on the same mission as Allah's Messenger sent me? Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a high grave without levelling it. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of transmitters and he said: (do not leave) a picture without obliterating it.

Hadith - Muslim, narrated Maymunah
One morning Allah's Messenger was silent with grief. Maymunah said: Allah's Messenger, I find a change in your mood today. Allah's Messenger said: Gabriel had promised me that he would meet me last night, but he did not meet me. By Allah, he never broke his promises; and Allah's Messenger spent the day in this sad (mood). Then it occurred to him that there had been a puppy under their cot. He gave an order and it was turned out. He then took some water in his hand and sprinkled it on the place. When it was evening Gabriel met him and he said to him: You promised me that you would meet me the previous night. He said: Yes, but we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture. So the very next morning he commanded the dogs to be killed. He announced that the dog kept for the orchards should also be killed, but he spared the dog used for the protection of extensive fields (or big gardens).

Hadith - Bukhari 8:151, Narrated 'Aisha
I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet , and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Apostle used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for 'Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) (Fateh-al-Bari page 143, Vol.13)

Hadith - Abu Dawud, Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin
When the Apostle of Allah arrived after the expedition to Tabuk or Khaybar (the narrator is doubtful), the draught raised an end of a curtain which was hung in front of her store-room, revealing some dolls which belonged to her. He asked: What is this? She replied: My dolls. Among them he saw a horse with wings made of rags, and asked: What is this I see among them? She replied: A horse. He asked: What is this that it has on it? She replied: Two wings. He asked: A horse with two wings? She replied: Have you not heard that Solomon had horses with wings? She said: Thereupon the Apostle of Allah laughed so heartily that I could see his molar teeth.

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 2.425, Narrated Aisha, r.a.
When the Prophet became ill, some of his wives talked about a church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was called Mariya. Um Salma and Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Church's) beauty and the pictures it contained. The Prophet raised his head and said, "Those are the people who, whenever a pious man dies amongst them, make a place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah."

Hadith - At-Tirmidhi
"On the Day of Resurrection a neck will stretch forth from Hell; it will have two eyes to see, two ears to hear, and a tongue to speak. It will say, "I have been appointed to take care of three types of people: every arrogant tyrant, every person who called on some deity other than Allaah (swt) and those who made pictures" [at-Tirmidhi stated that this hadith was saheeh - at-Takhweef min an-Naar, p.179, See also Jaami' al-Usool, 10/518, the editor said its isnaad is hasan]

UJC ready to talk, sets conditions

Srinagar, May 25: Day after Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh made a conditional offer of talks to the separatists in Jammu and Kashmir, the militant conglomerate United Jehad Council, in a significant move, while expressing willingness to join the parleys for resolution of Kashmir issue set its own preconditions for any such talks.
Reacting to the Prime Minster’s offer, UJC spokesperson Syed Sadaqat Hussain, in a statement issued from Pakistan administered Kashmir (Pak) capital Muzaffarabad, said the militant leadership was ready to join tripartite talks if Government of India accepts Kashmir as a dispute and initiates confidence building measures including revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA), release of political detainees and curbing all kinds of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. “If Dr Manmohan Singh is sincere on initiating meaningful talks with militant leadership, he must take these initiatives to set the process in motion,” he said and added that the Government of India must realize that the bilateral efforts made in the past have proved futile due to the absence of the real Kashmiri representatives in such initiatives.
Hussain said India’s stubborn attitude towards Kashmir issue has always been an impediment in the meaningful talks.
UJC spokesman said there should be no precondition of asking militants to lay down arms before entering into any parleys. “If the talks process (with militant leadership) is initiated in good faith and with a sincerity of purpose and it makes headway towards the resolution of the issue, the militant activities would cease on their own,” he said and added that there are instances of conflict areas like Vietnam and Afghanistan where armed struggle and talks went on side by side.
Pertinently, Dr Manmohan Singh had at a press conference in Delhi on Monday said that his government was ready to hold dialogue with all groups in Jammu and Kashmir “which are outside the political mainstream provided they shun violence.”
“I would once again like to appeal to all elements in Jammu and Kashmir that our government is ready for a dialogue provided all these groups which are outside the political mainstream shed the path of violence,” Dr Singh had said, apparently addressing the militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement came ahead of Dr Singh’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir scheduled for June 7 and 8.
In place to mention that the then chief commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Majid Dar had in July 2000 declared a unilateral cease-fire. After declaring the cease-fire Hizb insisted that the Government of India must explicitly state within a two-week time frame that Kashmir is a disputed territory and tripartite discussions including Pakistan in addition to India and Kashmir representatives begin immediately in order to address the problem.
The cease-fire collapsed after two rounds of talks in Srinagar and Dar was killed by unidentified gunmen on 23 March 2003 at Sopur.
Another initiative was taken by the Government of India by declaring a unilateral cease-fire in Jammu and Kashmir on 19 November 2000 in view of the holy month of Ramadhan. The ceasefire was initiated by the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

The story of the acronyms and the toilet destruction

Acronyms as we know it, are short form for some really big names. They save a lot of time, and usually help in inducing confusion, with no major harm done.

Good acronyms are good, they serve their job well, because the creator created them in a simple, and a memorable fashion. On the other hand, their are acronyms that came directly from Hell. For every blooming flower (BASIC: Beginner’s All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code), there is a demon, usually in a scary form (USA PATRIOT: Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism)

Back at home, I met a lot of acronyms in the daily talk too. There was AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) which was one hell of a beast, then there was MGS (Mallinsion Girls School ) and PCS (Presentation Convent) which held the key to suvival (for many of my pervert friends).

My first major deal with acronyms took place when I decided to name this blog as "Times Of Kashmir". Big as it looks, putting the title of the blog was a headache. A headache that I decided to cure with Crocin (Paracetamol). Unfortunately it was night, I just popped in whatever I could find in the medicine closet. The next day I woke up, took a pen and wrote on my diary:

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

I put the pen down, and walked slowly towards the bathroom, upsetting my moms carpets as I walked.

Back to the discussion about acronyms. In Kashmir, we have PWD, which unfortunately stands for Public Works Department, and is responsible for all the tap water that never makes it to our houses. Even if a mighty warrior of water, does manage to make it to the end, does manage to survive those long hours of pipe wrestling, but it is already on its death bed. The warrior thinks it is independence, to finally come out of the miles long plumbing system, but it chose a wrong time to be free, because (if you remember properly), I just went to the bathroom after that pill popping exercise.
